Teaching & Experiencing

After some conversations with the Faith Alive Team in Jos, we have compiled an update on what they are up to as well as the team at Anawim Home in Abuja.

From Faith Alive Hospital: This morning Gin Gin was allowed to assist in a surgery, which she was thrilled about. Rob Douglas did some pill counting for the pharmacy. Marina & Gin Gin (with moral support from Ed) gave a great presentation to prenatal patients (see photos above) on vitamins, nutrition, and exercise. They used Mary's charts, which are hung in the prenatal clinic hallway to help with the eduction. Also, from the Notes from Erika blog (she is from Colorado and is also serving at Faith Alive Hospital) we found out this as well: The surgery and xray center at the hospital are just recently operational and Baba (the cook) made some potatoes, cabbage, beef with a "mystery sauce" and chopped papaya for dinner. Nothing like fresh fruit in Africa.

From Anawim Home: Both teams talked with each other around noon today to touch base and keep each other updated. They are having some trouble with regards to charging items but Alex was optimistic that he would have it resolved quickly. According to Alex, they will be traveling to Kaduna tomorrow for about three days. As those who have traveled to Anawim before know, three days could be a day or five days, but Kaduna should be an awesome experience. Today the group is doing rotations within Anawim Home working with the boys, young mothers, and mentally ill who reside there.
